About Mactan Steel Center, Inc.
Mactan Steel Center, Inc., a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation, operates, conducts and maintains the business of manufacturing, processing, production, storing, packing, exporting, promoting, and otherwise generally trade or deal in and with slitted or sheared metal sheets and other related products.
Mactan Steel Center, Inc. was incorporated in August 1994 under the name of JS Steel Cebu Corporation. It started as a joint-venture agreement between Sumitomo Corporation and Jacinto Group, but in March 2001, Sumitomo Corporation bought out all the shareholdings of Jacinto Group. JS Steel Cebu Corporation was consequently re-organized under the new name, "Mactan Steel Center, Inc." in July 2001.
Mactan Steel is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of Calamba Steel Center, Inc., a domestic corporation. The parent company, Calamba Steel Center, Inc. is 90% owned by Sumitomo Corporation (the ultimate parent company), and 10% owned by Mitsui & Co. Ltd. Both companies are duly organized and registered under the laws of Japan. Mactan Steel Center, Inc. is also registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) as an Ecozone Export Enterprise and as an Ecozone Logistics Service Enterprise.
